Department of Public Instruction is going to create the Healthcare Heroes summer camp. A second grant, routed through Kinston Regional Jetport, provides $3,000 for continuation of the popular ACE Academy Comments (-1) North Lenoir earns national community service award The National Runner Up Community Service Award for North Lenoir’s FCCLA chapter recognizes students’ support for the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville. As the National Runner Up, the North Lenoir FCCLA chapter will receive a $500 award and will be recognized at the 2024 FCCLA National Leadership Conference that begins June 29 in Seattle. Comments (-1) LCPS doubles up on statewide STEM awards Kayla Lane-Varnell, a science teacher at North Lenoir High School, and Rachel Noble, a junior at South Lenoir High School, are winners of top awards presented annually by the North Carolina Science, Mathematics and Technology Center. Comments (-1) Six students heading to NC Governor’s School Chosen from more than 1,800 applicants were Mackenzie Hood of Lenoir County Early College High School and, from North Lenoir High School, Eagan Ballard, Kayla Britt, Lillian Daughety, Madeline Gilmore and Hayden Hall. The six represent a range of academic and artistic interests, from math and social science to dance and theater. Comments (-1) more ANNOUNCEMENTS In-school immunizations offered The Lenoir County Health Department is partnering with LCPS nurses to offer in-school immunization clinics the week of March 11-14 for students who need their school-required vaccines. This is for rising 7th graders and rising seniors. Most major insurances are accepted. If your child is uninsured, they can receive their vaccines as well. Forms required for immunization have been distributed to students to take home. If you did not receive a form, one can be downloaded at this link: http://tinyurl.com/5835b638 . Please complete the required form and return to your school nurse as soon as possible. No forms will be accepted after Friday, March 1.
